RenAImer reads the files in a folder, detects date, sender and topic, and gives each file a meaningful name. For images, the AI decides whether it is a photographed document or a photo. Renamed files go to an output folder of your choice.

What RenAImer does
- Date, sender, topicThe date comes from the document itself, not from the file's modification date. If no date is found, the name starts with 0000-00-00.
- Keywords inside the fileTitle, summary and keywords are written to the file properties (PDF, JPG, PNG, Office, LibreOffice). For Word, Excel, PowerPoint and JPG, Windows Explorer shows them too.
- Preview and controlDocument preview with summary, manual name editing, undo and a log of every move.
- Nothing is overwrittenIf a name already exists, RenAImer adds _2, _3 and so on.

Getting started
- Install. Run the setup and choose English. RenAImer appears in the Start menu.
- Enter your API key. On first start, a welcome window guides you. You create the key at platform.claude.com.
- Add files. Put files into the input folder and click “1. Analyze”, or drag files straight into the window.
- Check and rename. Review the suggestions, double-click to edit, then click “2. Rename and move”.

To recognise a file, RenAImer sends its content to Anthropic's Claude API (USA). Anthropic bills you directly for usage. With the Haiku model, that is a fraction of a cent per file. Your key is stored with Windows encryption; only your Windows account can read it. Only process documents you are comfortable sending to Anthropic.

Frequently asked questions
How can I rename PDF files and scans automatically?
With RenAImer. Put the files into the input folder or drag them into the window. RenAImer reads each file, detects date, sender and topic, and suggests a name such as 2026-10-15_Swisscom_Invoice-October.pdf. You review the suggestions and then confirm.
Is RenAImer available in English?
Yes. Since version 5.0, RenAImer speaks English and German. It starts in your Windows language; you can switch under ☰ Menu → “Sprache / Language”. The “File name language” setting decides which language is used for topics, summaries and keywords: same as app, same as document, German or English.
How much does RenAImer cost?
RenAImer itself is free. To recognise documents, you need your own Anthropic API key with prepaid credit. You top up in advance and only pay for what you use. With the Haiku model, one file costs a fraction of a cent. If your credit runs out, RenAImer simply stops.
Where do I get an API key?
At platform.claude.com. Create an account, add credit, create a key and paste it into RenAImer when you first start it. You don't need a Claude subscription; the two are separate.
Where do my documents go?
To recognise a file, RenAImer sends its content to Anthropic's Claude API (USA). For Word, Excel and text files, only the text is sent. mhaase software receives no files, file names or usage data. Your key is stored with Windows encryption; only your Windows account can read it.
Which file formats are supported?
PDF, images (JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, WEBP, BMP, GIF), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, LibreOffice, emails (EML, Outlook MSG), text files, contacts and events (VCF, ICS). Not supported: legacy Office files (DOC, XLS, PPT), Apple Pages/Numbers, ZIP, video and music.
Are my original files changed?
The file is renamed and moved to the output folder, not copied. Its content stays the same. For PDF, JPG, PNG, Office and LibreOffice files, RenAImer also writes the title, summary and keywords to the file properties. The file extension is always kept.
Can I undo a rename?
Yes. Press Ctrl+Z or choose ☰ Menu → “Undo last move”. The files go back to where they were, with their old names. Repeat to undo earlier steps. Every move is also recorded in a log that you can open in Excel.
What if no date can be found?
Then the name starts with 0000-00-00 and the row is highlighted. Double-click the new name to add the date. RenAImer deliberately ignores the file's modification date, because it rarely matches the date on the document.
Will a file be overwritten if the name already exists?
No. RenAImer never overwrites anything. If the name exists, it adds _2, _3 and so on.
Why does Windows warn me during installation?
RenAImer is not digitally signed, so Windows SmartScreen shows a warning the first time you run it. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. You can use the SHA-256 checksums in the download section to check that the file has not been altered.
Does RenAImer run on a Mac or offline?
No. RenAImer runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and needs an internet connection, because recognition runs through the Claude API.
